PUBLICATION ETHICS

The Editor of Damhil Education Journal has published a set of publication ethics as guidelines for authors involved in scientific research publication to comply with COPE practices and establish high ethical standards for journal publication. This statement is based on the COPE Best Practice Guidelines.

A. Authors

Authors are expected to adhere to the following ethical guidelines. Any violation may result in the retraction of the article or even ban the author from publishing in the journal.

  1. The primary obligation of authors is to provide accurate and complete details of the research conducted. Research data must contain sufficient information about the subject matter.
  2. Authors must ensure the originality of their work and that no fraud or fabrication is involved in their manuscripts.
  3. Authors must guarantee that the article has not been previously published or is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  4. Authors must ensure that their work does not contain any statements that violate the law and/or any comments that may violate the law.
  5. Authors acknowledge and comply with the misconduct policy.

B. Editor

  1. Editors must provide fair assessment and consideration of all manuscripts based on their quality without regard to the author's race, religion, nationality, gender, seniority, or institutional affiliation.
  2. Editors are responsible for considering all manuscripts within a reasonable time frame.
  3. Editors, with their expertise and fair judgment, are responsible for accepting or rejecting manuscripts. They must establish good communication with authors regarding the publication of manuscripts. Final decisions will be accompanied by comments from reviewers.
  4. Editors must ensure that no personal information about authors is included in manuscripts sent to reviewers.
  5. Editors must ensure the confidentiality of manuscripts submitted and not disclose any information about manuscripts under consideration to others.
  6. Editors must respect authors' requests not to use specific reviewers—with reasonable justification—to consider their manuscripts. However, editors may decide to use one or more of these reviewers if their professional input is considered important for the publication of the manuscript.
  7. Editors must adhere to COPE practices when considering manuscripts for publication.

C. Reviewers

All papers will be critically reviewed by at least one anonymous reviewer, selected based on their competence in the field covered by Damhil Education Journal. Acceptance of a paper will depend on its scientific merit and suitability for Damhil Education Journal. Papers may be accepted in their original form, revised, or rejected.

Suggestions from reviewers (and editors) will be communicated to the author, who will then have the opportunity to revise the manuscript. Manuscripts returned to the author for revision may be held for a maximum of four weeks.

Accepted manuscripts will be edited by a native English speaker. The cost of language editing services is included in the Article Processing Charge (APC).

All submitted manuscripts will be checked for originality using iThenticate/Turnitin.

Reviewers must adhere to the following ethical guidelines:

  1. The primary duty of a reviewer (referee) is to assess the complete manuscript objectively, both scientifically and literally, to a high standard.
  2. Referees must treat submitted manuscripts as confidential documents.
  3. The identity of referees must be kept confidential unless the editor decides otherwise.
  4. Reviewers must complete their evaluation of manuscripts within a reasonable time and directly inform the editor if the work cannot be completed on schedule.
  5. Reviewers must explain and provide adequate professional assessment for the evaluation of manuscripts.
  6. Reviewers must immediately inform the editor if they find that the manuscript is likely to be misused by others in a way that could pose a threat to public health and safety.

D. Conflict of Interest Policy

Authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to adhere to the following guidelines in accordance with COPE practices.

  1. Authors must clearly disclose their sources of financial support—institutional, personal, and/or corporate—for their research.
  2. If the author and editor of Damhil Education Journal have a relationship that could lead to unfair evaluation, another editor will be appointed instead.
  3. Reviewers must be aware of any conflicts of interest when accepting a manuscript for evaluation and are requested to immediately return the manuscript to the editor, informing them of the conflict of interest.

E. Data and Responsibility

Data availability and reporting guidelines are available in the 'Author Guidelines' section.

F. Research Misconduct Policy

The purpose of this policy is to prevent misconduct related to research conducted for the journal and to suggest basic principles and structural procedures in relation to considerations of research integrity necessary to ensure research ethics.

Research misconduct suggested in this policy relates to fraud and refers to fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, and improper authorship.

  1. “Fabrication” refers to any activity involving the creation of false information about data or findings that do not exist.

  3. “Plagiarism” refers to the act of stealing ideas, research content, and research results from others without permission or proper citation.
  4. “Inappropriate authorship” refers to cases where individuals who have contributed to the scientific and technical content of research or research results do not meet the criteria to be listed as authors, or where an individual who has not contributed to the scientific and technical content of research or research results is listed as an author solely to express gratitude or courtesy.
  5. Intentional actions to obstruct investigations of fraud concerning themselves or others or actions that could harm informants
  6. Unfair evaluation of others' research or disclosure or plagiarism of research ideas or results obtained during the evaluation process.
  7. Extremely deviant actions that are unacceptable in the scientific and technological community.

Possible sanctions
