Negosiasi Identitas Keagamaan dalam Tradisi Mongakiki Masyarakat Gorontalo

Abstract


Penelitian ini mengkaji praktik tradisi Mongakiki (Aqiqah) di Desa Batu Keramat, Kecamatan Paguyaman, Kabupaten Boalemo, Provinsi Gorontalo, sebagai fenomena akulturasi antara ajaran syariat Islam dan budaya lokal. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode etnografi, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa masyarakat melaksanakan aqiqah dengan cara yang berbeda dari tuntunan syariat Islam, yaitu menggunakan ayam putih atau membeli darah sapi dari hajatan orang lain, bukan menyembelih kambing. Praktik ini disertai dengan prosesi adat mohundingo (gunting rambut bayi) yang sarat dengan simbol-simbol budaya lokal. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Tradisi Mongakiki merupakan hasil negosiasi antara ortodoksi Islam dan pragmatisme budaya, yang dipengaruhi oleh faktor ekonomi, ikatan sosial, dan identitas komunal. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi pada pemahaman tentang dinamika Islam lokal di Indonesia, khususnya bagaimana masyarakat Muslim menegosiasikan identitas keagamaan mereka dalam konteks budaya yang spesifik.
