Pengembangan Kreativitas Melalui Pembuatan Batik Kreatif Dengan Material Olahan Biji Asam Jawa di SMP Daya Susila-Garut

Abstract

Daya Susila Middle School is located on Jalan Ahmad Yani Garut. This school is one of the best private schools in Garut.Within a week the learning process is carried out for five days and one of the subjects taught is art. Art subjects have the potential to increase student creativity, so it is necessary to update lessons so that student competence in the arts also increases. If you consider the position of this school which is in Garut as one of the cities producing batik and the knowledge of students who are mostly familiar with how to make batik using hot wax medium, it is very suitable to introduce new material in making batik, namely using cold wax medium. The cold wax technique that will be taught comes from tamarind seed powder which is processed in such a way that it can be used as a wax for a barrier on batik. The method of applying cold wax is even easier because the wax produced is not in the form of a hot liquid, so it can be applied immediately without fear of spilling the material. The aim of this training is to increase students' creativity in the art learning process at Daya Susila-Garut Middle School. The problem faced is how to enrich and improve the skills and creativity of students at Daya Susila Middle School through the cold wax batik technique. The method used is by accompanying students with the teacher. Participants who will take part in this training are 40 students and arts and culture teachers.
